Doug Aldrich and David Coverdale from Whitesnake. I took these pictures on my cell phone a their concert in Luagardalshöll 2007.

So this is an old one. Fróði and I were 16 years old and drunk. This friend of ours was hosting a birthday party and we showed up. That’s the day I found out she had once been my stepsister. I saw her mother and I wondered, for how long I don’t know, probably two hours, where I knew her from. Then it hit me, she was my fathers’ ex-girlfriend. Addý and I (my (ex)stepsister) then remembered each others faces and she even had some old pictures. It was weird as fuck. As you can, kind of, see, I had long hair on the left side of my head but no hair on the other. Today I don’t really get what I thought so cool about it.

Brothers

This is from my younger brothers confirmation. It’s my mother on the far left, in the center you see my younger sister and her boyfriend (parents to be in the upcoming month), to the far right you can see the man of the day and myself and at the bottom you can see his majesty alongside two of his older siblings.

I guess I forgot to tell you I have a longboard now! I’ve had it for about two months and I love it very very much, it’s called Green-Go (and Bambi, for that it’s made of bamboo).

Probably.

I need a camera. First I get a camera, then I become a tumblr freak.

So, long time no posting…as usual. Once again, everything has changed. Gerður and I moved back to Þorlákshöfn because the guy who rented out the room suddenly had to use it himself, a bit of a twist. I quit the hotel job, I wasn’t getting many enough shifts plus it had become a bit of a bother to travel to and fro Þorlákshöfn and Reykjavík. Most likely, I am getting another job here. A buddy of mine called me up the other day and confessed to a horrible, horrible thing. He got a promotion! So, his first assignment as a “semi-boss” was to find a new employe and that’s were I come in. My job, and his (the only difference between our jobs is that he can tell me what to do, even though he still has to do the same things), is cleaning up this fish-processing-company (I’m not sure what it’s called in English, it’s “útgerð” in Icelandic. Be sure not to mix that up with “útferð” which is vaginal discharge). Sounds easy enough and the pay is okay. Other than all of that there aren’t many news. Not much happening. Eistnaflug is coming up next month though, I can’t fucking wait. Byebye.

WTF Game of Thrones? Everyone’s dead now, great. Fuck you. Twice.

From S03E09

Hi again, long time no post. ‘So what is new?’ you might ask, and to that I might reply ‘everything’. The last news I remember posting were about Gerður and the fact that she stayed with me in Þorlákshöfn for three days, so I think I should start from there. Shortly after she left I went up north to her stepdads’ and mothers’ farm to see her again. She was there alone but after the second night her mum and stepdad returned home. Meeting them was quite akward. Anyway, it was only about to get worse. The same night, which was suposed to be my last niht there, the grownups called the narcs. That, of course, ment trouble. They showed up, with a dog, and took my weed, thus was I far from welcome at the farm anymore so I had to hithchike back south, around 400km, at 2am. The trip was about 12 hours long and the day after Gerður had an intervention. So next days where tough. She came back south and continued living with her father who had become more strict than ever. She got enough of his dictatorship in a few weeks time and moved to my place in Þorlákshöfn.
A few weeks later I got a job in a hotel kitchen in Reykjavík. The 101hotel, it’s a four star hotel and the people there are grate. After having worked there for not even a month I got a job at the bar there as well, so that is all going very well.
Gerður an I now rent a room in Reykjavík and she just got the unemployment benefits, so everything is looking up. She’s on a jobhunt and I’m doing my best to make ends meet. We’re inlove and all is well.

5 friends of mine 10 meters away, yet I want to meet up with someone who’s new.

"Did you know, you can quit your job, you can leave university? You aren’t legally required to have a degree, it’s a social pressure and expectation, not the law, and no one is holding a gun to your head. You can sell your house, you can give up your apartment, you can even sell your vehicle, and your things that are mostly unnecessary. You can see the world on a minimum wage salary, despite the persisting myth, you do not need a high paying job. You can leave your friends (if they’re true friends they’ll forgive you, and you’ll still be friends) and make new ones on the road. You can leave your family. You can depart from your hometown, your country, your culture, and everything you know. You can sacrifice. You can give up your $5.00 a cup morning coffee, you can give up air conditioning, frequent consumption of new products. You can give up eating out at restaurants and prepare affordable meals at home, and eat the leftovers too, instead of throwing them away. You can give up cable TV, Internet even. This list is endless. You can sacrifice climbing up in the hierarchy of careers. You can buck tradition and others’ expectations of you. You can triumph over your fears, by conquering your mind. You can take risks. And most of all, you can travel. You just don’t want it enough. You want a degree or a well-paying job or to stay in your comfort zone more. This is fine, if it’s what your heart desires most, but please don’t envy me and tell me you can’t travel. You’re not in a famine, in a desert, in a third world country, with five malnourished children to feed. You probably live in a first world country. You have a roof over your head, and food on your plate. You probably own luxuries like a cellphone and a computer. You can afford the $3.00 a night guest houses of India, the $0.10 fresh baked breakfasts of Morocco, because if you can afford to live in a first world country, you can certainly afford to travel in third world countries, you can probably even afford to travel in a first world country. So please say to me, “I want to travel, but other things are more important to me and I’m putting them first”, not, “I’m dying to travel, but I can’t”, because I have yet to have someone say they can’t, who truly can’t. You can, however, only live once, and for me, the enrichment of the soul that comes from seeing the world is worth more than a degree that could bring me in a bigger paycheck, or material wealth, or pleasing society. Of course, you must choose for yourself, follow your heart’s truest desires, but know that you can travel, you’re only making excuses for why you can’t. And if it makes any difference, I have never met anyone who has quit their job, left school, given up their life at home, to see the world, and regretted it. None. Only people who have grown old and regretted never traveling, who have regretted focusing too much on money and superficial success, who have realized too late that there is so much more to living than this."
